William Asa Howard was born December 28, 1862 in Louisiana.
He was the son of Edmond G Howard and Elvina Goins.

He died June 21, 1953 in Starks, Louisiana and was buried in the Miller cemetery in Starks, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.

He married Roxie Ann Clark. about 1883 in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.

Bill (or "Uncle Bill" as he was sometimes called) was a farmer. He enjoyed a good chew of tobacco and always had a can nearby. One of my most regrettable mistakes as an inquisitive 5-year old was thinking that the glass that he used for disposing of his tobacco spittum was a glass of coke. Needless to say, I did not make that mistake again!

As I recall, he also enjoyed celebrating New Years Eve and other festive occasions. Fireworks weren't always available but even in his later years he might be found shooting a .22 revolver in the air around the midnight hour on New Years Eve.

William Asa Howard fathered a son who was born November 7, 1896. The son was named William Asa Howard, Jr. This is our direct ancestor. It should be noted that Roxie Ann Clark was not able to bear children and, as a service to her sister, Sarah Elizabeth Clark actually gave birth to William Asa Howard, Jr.
