There are a number of variations of the spelling of Johnson in the various Johnson families including Johnston, Jonson, Johnsson, McShane, McSein and others.

The name Johnson appears to have appeared in England following the Norman Conquest of 1066.

Most of the Johnson settlers in the United States came from England or Wales. The Johnson family is closely related to many of our relatives in several branches of our family tree. Our pedigree will show only the Johnsons related to our south Louisiana cousins. The earliest documented Johnson in this pedigree is William Johnson who was born about 1680 in Scotland. Our line of descendants from William Johnson may be seen here.

Malcolm Johnston married Marie Jones and is our closest Johnston relative.

Our closest Johnson relative is Pashtie Johnson who married Aaron Dial. This relative will show the Johnson genealogy all the way back to William Johnson and should to prove interesting to folks desiring to know a bit more about South Louisiana Acadian heritage.
