There are a number of variations of the spelling of Berry in the various Berry families including Bery, Berey, DeBerry and others.

The name Berry appears to have originated about the time of the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 at the Battle of Hastings. The Berry family lived in the County of Devon. The family moved to Devon after the arrival of William the Conqueror.

Most of the Berry settlers in the United States came from England or Wales. The earliest documented Jones in our line is William Sanford Berry who was born about 1746 in Lunenbery, Virginia. Our line of descendants from William Sanford Berry may be seen here.

Our closest Berry relative is Clementine Clesha Berry who married Hayden L Jones.
